To the editor:

            At their most recent meeting, the combined memberships of Brownsmead Grange #822 and Wickiup Grange #722 voted unanimously to endorse the candidacy of Dirk Rohne for county commissioner from district 4.

            Dirk’s track record of public service is well documented.  He has served, or is serving, on the Clatsop College Board, Knappa Water District board, Brownsmead Diking Improvement Association, as a volunteer for the Brownsmead and Knappa Fire Districts, and as a member of the County Planning Commission.  We have personally witnessed his volunteerism at work on local grange projects.

            Moreover, we know Dirk to be a thoughtful person, and one who is approachable.  He would be available to hear citizen’s concerns, and would pay attention to points of view other than his own.  As Grangers, we feel his experience in agriculture would bring desirable common-sense strength to the commission.

            Please join us in voting to make Dirk Rohne our next county commissioner.
